Dorothy grew up in Virginia where she discovered her love for writing in her eighth grade English class—thank you Mr. Donovan, wherever you are! Her goal of getting published would wait twenty years while she raised her daughters, lived in three States, and worked a variety of jobs including sales clerk, service rep, underwriter, and loan officer.

Her first published novel was an historical romance. Yet success in publishing didn’t follow. Seven long years passed—with an untold number of rejected manuscripts—while she kept working her day job, continued to learn the craft of writing, and wrote whenever she could, even if it was for only a few minutes a day.

Life changed for Dorothy during a critique session at a writers’ conference when an editor from Berkley asked to see her latest manuscript, another historical romance. That book sold, followed immediately by another one. She moved to Harlequin and went on to write over 20 more historical romances under the pen name Judith Stacy.

Dorothy then turned her attention to cozy mystery. She writes the Haley Randolph series, the Dana Mackenzie series, the Hollis Brannigan series, and the Sewing Studio mystery series. Her books are funny, light hearted, and feature strong female amateur sleuths; she couldn’t resist drawing on her romance background to include some hot guys in her mysteries.

Dorothy lives in Los Angeles. She’s eternally grateful for her readers, the love and support of family and friends, her hard working agent and publishers, and her extreme good fortune.
